Melbourne Sculptor, Adrian Ward has created a stunning work from solid silver and gold depicting his grave concern for the future wellbeing of humans and of the planet.
“My concerns have now reached a level that it looks to me like we are facing a major financial reset which will result in a major global depression”.
Auguste Rodin’s ‘The Thinker’ was originally created as the focal point of his monumental ‘Gates of Hell’ classic. He intentionally and brilliantly captured man’s torment both morally and intellectually in creating a physically daunting yet emotionally bankrupt and frustrated figure gazing into the abyss of life/death.
The bundles of money he is sitting on symbolise the worthlessness of our fiat currencies and the fact that nothing today seems to offer any real value.
The figure also holds a mobile phone in his left hand and seems lost in the vacuous world of information overload. Technology, and its possible dangers also terrifies The Thinker.

Adrian Ward
Adrian Ward is a Melbourne based artist who has traveled and exhibited extensively during his 25-year career. He is renowned for his thought-provoking sculptures, especially his works in silver bullion and cement.
He is also a Stock Market Options Trader and sees his work as crossing the divide between Art and the Financial System.” My work is all about man’s freedom and how he is dominated by a Global Financial System that is out of control. As a sculptor, I endeavour to create pieces that capture my ideas and sentiments.”
He is a graduate of Melbourne University Victorian College of the Arts, and holds a Degree in Fine Art, majoring in sculpture.
His artworks are enjoyed by private and corporate collectors around Australia and overseas.
